Description

This stainless steel top is specifically designed for the Hi-Tech Diamond 10″ trim saw, and it is a dramatic improvement over the standard bumpy plastic top that comes with it. Unlike the plastic top that comes with the saw, this one won’t ever sag, and is easy to keep clean because it doesn’t collect debris.

The top is made from 0.060″ thick (1.5mm) 304 stainless steel which provides a smooth surface for the rock to slide across, and it adds a significant amount of rigidity to the top. Secured with four included stainless steel bolts that will hold the top in place with zero movement. Installation is easy, watch the video below for full instructions.

304 stainless steel used under normal conditions will not corrode.

Small cosmetic blemishes may be present on the surface of the table due to the stainless steel manufacturing process. These do not affect performance.

100% Made in the USA

All orders ship within three business days, and shipping is free on all items via USPS.

Please watch this short installation guide before purchasing, since some basic tools are required, and read the FAQ section, as it contains important information about the plastic saw top that came from Hi-Tech.

Absolutely a game changer for anyone with the 10” saw! The added control you get from the solid surface makes it feel so much smoother. Super easy to install too. I would recommend this to Everyone that can use it!!

  2. Bill Aylsworth

Jared’s stainless steel cover was easy to install on my hi-Tech 10″ saw. The directions were simple and it also reinforces the top plate to reduce vibration. Nice product and I am very glad I purchased one. Thanks Jared.

I can’t count the number of times I found a rock I was cutting would get “hung up” on the texture of the original plastic top on my Hi-Tech 10″. I have been very happy with the upgrade to a stainless steel top. I did discover that the original top for my saw was missing some of the foam pieces described in the FAQs. This resulted in wear on the saw top (both original plastic and new stainless). I appreciate Jared’s help troubleshooting the issue and look forward to lots of lapidary fun in future!

I have been using the SS Topper for several months. It takes alot less hand pressure to push the rocks while cutting. Cleaning up when done cutting is just a quick wipe with a wet rag.,Highly recommend

#1 best upgrade to the Hi-Tech 10″ saw. So smooth it feels like you’re sliding a rock over butter. I bought one of the first stainless steel tops and I’ve been using it for months now. It’s holding up just like it was brand new. The setup instructional video was simple and easy to follow. I recommend watching it; you’ll get an amazing fit. Thank you, Jared, for your ingenious solutions to lapidary product issues! I look forward to future upgrades.

I personally did not purchase this top. It was however bought and gifted to me by Rick Smith, a very kind and generous member of the rockhound community. Thanks Rick. I had a couple issues installing, my fault, because I did not tighten the bolts before drilling the corner holes. The existing table top ridges kept pushing the drill bit and in turn causing the stainless top to move. This is not a reflection on the excellent work done or the precision in the alignment of the holes and sawblade slot in the topper, only in my own ineptitude. lol.
I have now used this topper through several cutting sessions and I personally think it’s great. It’s so simple and is the perfect addition to a decent saw that should never have had the cheap plastic ridged top it has. Well done Jared. I am definitely looking forward to more products from you!

The 10 inch saw from Hi-tech is a decent starter saw when getting into lapidary but it did have a few things I didn’t care for. The biggest one being the saw top…it just wasnt designed well and held debris and the rock would often snag.
This stainless steel top was much needed. Granted….I didn’t get to use it for a while after setting it up but when I did…oh man. 🤌
No more Rocks catching on the top and no more cut skin from debris.
Thank you Jared for taking the time and energy to provide a wonderful product.

I absolutely love this accessory for the Hi-Tech Diamond 10-inch Slab Saw that Jared created. It lined up perfectly on my saw and has made cutting rocks so much easier. Before installing it, I would often have issues with rocks getting caught in the factory grid, which sometimes made it difficult to achieve straight, consistent cuts. Since adding this stainless steel topper, those problems have completely disappeared.

The smooth surface provides much better support for slabs and rough material, making the cutting process more accurate and enjoyable. If you own a Hi-Tech Diamond 10-inch Slab Saw, I highly recommend this upgrade. It’s a simple addition that makes a huge difference. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This unit is a good idea, but it has its set of problems. First The holes on the top that are supposed to match those on the original plastic lid do not line up properly. Mine are off by about 1/2 hole. To match the holes you have to move the plate over so that the blade rubs on the edge of the slot. After trying to make my cover work for several weeks, I took it off and threw it onto the ground. The slot is too narrow and needs to be enlarged. That’s your job, not mine. Do you want to give me a refund?

      Hello Daniel,

I reached out to you via email about this issue you seem to be having. I offered five different times to refund you since all products are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for one year after you receive them. All you had to do was send a photo of the issue that you are describing or send the product back so I can see the problem you’re describing in your review. You seem very unwilling to do one of those two things so that I can give you a refund and get this issue taken care of for you.

There are many stages in the manufacturing process of these that would catch any kind of error that could create an alignment issue with your existing saw top as you’re describing here. This makes me think that the issue is not with the stainless top but rather with the installation that was done.

The holes and blade slot on the stainless top should perfectly line up with the existing holes on the modern 10″ Hi-Tech Diamond 10″ saw as shown in the product images. If you happen to be using a different saw, the holes will not line up.

Again, I have a one-year guarantee on all products starting the day you received them. So if at any point between now and May 8th, 2027, you would like to show me the defect as you’re describing it, I am happy to get you a refund or replacement.

Awesome product, that takes a homeowner grade machine and gets it very close to a highend commercial machine. World of difference when cutting. For the price of this upgrade, you cant afford not to!

  11. Jordan Bailey

Great top for the 10in hi-tech saw. Makes cutting so much better and gives it a nice look too. I highly recommend it.

  12. Dan Emerick

Jared has the “fix” for what your Hi-Tech trim saw should be!
No more constant chips and fragments getting caught in the 1/4″ grid cracks of a surface I can only guess is good for stained glass work only.
Hi-Tech should have consulted with Jared from the beginning!
Simple, flawless installation in less than 10 minutes!
    Thanks Jared!

  15. Dan Howard

I purchased the steel top for my saw and is the best 70 dollars I could spend it made a huge difference in my cuts the rocks slide through with more control. I highly recommend it for the people with the 10 inch Hi Tech.

  16. Scott Pingree

Excellent solution for my few gripes about the 10″ Hi-Tech saw–the plastic top wears with use, the cut-out for the blade gets worn/enlarged, debris gets caught in the groves, and the top starts to sag a bit. I’m not complaining about the saw at all, it’s a great saw. The plastic top sheet does wear with use-but that’s to be expected. The stainless cover looks to remedy my gripes. High quality, packed well, prompt shipping–VERY glad I didn’t wait to order!

  17. Garry Westrate

If you have had to replace the top of your Hi-Tech 10″ more than once Never do it again !! Jared’s stainless steel cover for the Hi-Tech is the perfect fix for the problem. And have you been cutting and your stone snags on the plastic grid? This ends that problem! Very easy to install and Jared also has a video showing how to do it. 5 stars out of 5. Fast free shipping. I have already installed mine and cut with it. Works exactly as advertised. Thanks Jared !!

FAQs

What about rust and corrosion developing with water exposer over time?
The tabletop is made from 304 stainless steel, and when used under normal conditions with fresh water, you will not see any red rust develop.
Why stainless steel and not aluminum?
Stainless steel is significantly more abrasion resistant than aluminum. If the top was made from aluminum, it would start to get deep scratches in it over time, but that is not the case with stainless.
There is excessive play in the black plastic tabletop, it rubs on the blade. What do I do to fix it?
Before installing the stainless top on your saw, you should inspect your plastic top for the isolation strips and rubber dots and ensure that it does not slide around side to side when installed on the saw. They are highlighted below, and if they are pushed around, damaged, or missing altogether, your plastic top will have excessive movement, which can cause blade rubbing. You must inspect these regularly.
